When I started my radio show in 2002 at a traditional brick and mortar station, where I am still today, there was no FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram or Blogs. What we had back then were forums and discussion boards. Banner ads were a big deal and selling advertising on eBay worked well for ads on websites, forums, and for my radio show.

When FaceBook came along I wasn't that keen on it. I liked my little world of radio, website, and weekly newsletter, it served me well and I got two book and TV deals from it. I've really shied away from social media because I am very private and don't need to take photos of my food at dinner. I will take a scenic photo while on vacation but, that's about it.

Taking this class I've learned I can utilize social media for my business without leaving myself too personally vulnerable until I get comfortable with the medium and settle in. Ironically, though you can learn a lot of personal information about me listening to my show. Perhaps, because I feel safe and comfortable on-air as it is my true "home". The social sites seem so intimidating because it's so easy for people to say snarky things hiding behind their keyboard.

This class has been good for me to explore the different aspects of social media sites. They definitely each have their own personality and appeal to distinct demographics. As I think back, I remember enjoying YouTube videos. I'm doing a test project right now for Catholicism is Cool where I am using a teleprompter and recording the Daily Mass reading and Gospel. I'm excited to try this and see how I can grow it. Also, posting the video on my FaceBook Group and uploading the audio to Anchor.fm.

The biggest challenge for me over the years was deciding where I felt comfortable online and decided yesterday to try Catholicism is Cool videos and repurpose them across several platforms. The challenge is in recording seven at a time and editing in lower thirds then scheduling them to be posted Monday through Saturday every week. I looked at the competition and there are a Priest and one other lay person or group. Open field!

In summary, there are so many different platforms that as my co-host Richard says, "You have to figure out where you want to play online and who you want to play with." With that said, going back to my online roots of radio, YouTube, and a newsletter and repurposing onto my blog then tracking my progress and tweaking what isn't working. Also, be a shark and keep moving!
I really enjoyed walking through the paces of learning about social media. A co-host of mine is a social media and e-commerce guy and he would always ask me, "Mary, where do you want to play and who do you want to play within your business?"

It took me a while to understand the concept but, now after this class, I get what he means. Going through the assignments and trying a few of the platforms it was interesting to note which ones would work for Go With Your Gut and Catholicism is Cool. These two topics are based on podcasts, books, and online courses so I don't feel they are as strong for Instagram because they are not as visual. I can make memes to complement my content and that will get some attention but, typically I stick to recording a podcast, transcribing it for a blog post, and posting on my site and iTunes. With that said, FaceBook and Twitter seem the logical sites for now. I can see the Zoom interviews and other videos of my content to reactivate my YouTube channel. I like YouTube, too.

I would choose to boost posts on FaceBook as a strategy from the class. My ad on Twitter didn't yield anything but, I don't really have a strong enough presence for that. I like Twitter for some weird reason and will continue to dabble in that.

I remember really liking analytics when I had my MomsTown company. I like getting in the weeds with data. Even when I send my newsletter out I like to see how many clicks, opens, bounces, etc... and I've noticed when I send the newsletter with specific headlines I'll get a 50% open rate, if from nothing other than curiosity. Full disclosure, I don't send it very often. Mostly to my vacation rental guests and I include a podcast, local events in town, and special rates. I do get click-throughs on the podcasts and always get a booking for my rental. Hmmm, why don't I do this more often?

The biggest take away from the class was that I need to incorporate social media as a strategy on a consistent basis and that needs to be thought out and scheduled.

If I plan to batch content and schedule it to go out I believe I could spend a portion of one working day to do that and be done for the week.

Record a podcast. Transcribe it. Edit for a blog post. Post to FaceBook with a link to the podcast. Post to Twitter with a link to the podcast. Send a newsletter once a month with a podcast.

One other thing I know from past experience is to engage each subscriber as much as possible. For instance, when someone signs up for my newsletter I should reach out to them with a simple "Hello, thank you for subscribing." Also, what is effective is a shout out on my show. That worked really well to ingratiate listeners.

Thank you for a great class.
Then banner ads seemed to take over websites and seemed to have fallen out of favor.

I think I would feel most comfortable with creating an ad for Facebook and actually watching the traffic from both FaceBook and Instagram. When I create a meme and put it on Instagram I do get a response but, I haven't taken it too seriously to watch for results.

Moving forward, I am going to schedule posts for both social media sites that promote both Go With Your Gut and Catholicism is Cool. If I schedule 5-7 posts ahead of time then it is easier for me to stay in the zone and focus on one thing. I call it batching, and it works well for me.
For each blog post, I tried to be descriptive enough to get them to click through and read it. My reach was the strongest number and I'm disappointed in my engagement. I need to look into how to increase that number.

I placed an ad to see what would happen. I didn't niche my demographic so it seems I just did a scatter approach for a potential audience. I also read that my reach included both the number of organic and paid viewers which is not giving me an accurate picture of either.

I've learned that consistency and frequency with my posts is probably the most important aspect to my social media efforts. I believe if I do both then my audience will let me know by what they click on, or not click on, what is of interest to them.

I need to make an editorial calendar and schedule my posts for each week, I think that's the only way to boost awareness of my brand.CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-313148527624271272019-05-19T14:39:00.002-07:002019-05-19T14:39:54.401-07:00Week 15 - Post A - Google AnalyticsWhen I have tracked my Google Analytics, I wanted to see how many people would visit my site, how often, and most importantly how long they stayed on my site. For my school blog there isn't much information but, for my personal blog and my past business blog, understanding the users who visited was important to me to see if I was providing useful content. I would also dive into the demographics of those to find out their interests and if there was something we could add to the content to fill a need.

I was also interested in how often they returned to the site. If I posted a blog post and a podcast, it was important to know if they found it through the newsletter links. After a while, I would see which topics were more popular than others and if a guest had promoted their segment.

The most interesting for me is the session duration. Perhaps, it's my ego, however, if someone clicked on a podcast and only listened for a minute or so that would help us shape our content. The most helpful of course is if they listened for longer periods we felt we were on the right track and could convert them into more engaging visitors and purchasers of our products.
I chose a FaceBook ad for Go With Your Gut to get more likes. It shows the cover of my book and I have over 300 friends so maybe it will help with engagement. My objective is page likes to grow my community. I know I have to start posting on a regular basis with relevant content so hopefully, this ad will garner some attention and grow my community.

For my Catholic, faith-based, Twitter account, @AboutJesusMary for brand awareness. I posted a question and hopefully, because of the ad people will start to follow me.
I am trying to create an ad on FaceBook for a closed group called Catholicism is Cool. Not sure if I can't because it is a closed group.

CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-46854387538253297402019-05-06T11:20:00.002-07:002019-05-06T11:20:52.455-07:00Week 6 - Post B - Alternate AssignmentFor my FaceBook assignment, I chose higher profile people and the first one is Tony Robbins. I'm pretty sure he has a team managing his site. He has over 53,000 followers. It is jam-packed with every tool FaceBook offers. An Instant Messenger popped up right away and started asking me a series of questions. All of his past and upcoming events are listed and they are posting multiple times a day. They have personality quizzes one can take to probably identify which one of his programs would be the best fit.

I need to visualize how I want to play in my business, certainly not on that scale but, happy to do podcasts and perhaps a TV show again.

Zig Ziglar was another choice. My Dad gave me one of Zig's earliest books, See You At The Top, and I have it to this day. He has passed away but, I think his son has taken the helm. They have 4.7 million friends and countless posts, videos, and Zig's quotes. I don't see any call to actions but, they have videos talking about webcasts so they seem pretty current. I especially like the faith-based quotes and I should incorporate more of that on my site.

Brene Brown is another self-help speaker. She has over 1,500,000 followers. Her site is awkward to go through but, when I did scroll down I liked some of the quotes she posted and seeing some videos.
There are multiple photos of her above the fold which lead to her different projects. It would have been better to be more static and not so many places to click and end up elsewhere.CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-25742854914858252492019-04-29T16:21:00.000-07:002019-04-29T16:35:50.628-07:00Week 13 - Post A - Advertising ExamplesI chose a few authors to see how they are using their social media platforms to soft sell or a blatant sell.

Candice Kumai - She uses Twitter on a regular basis. She posts many clips of her on TV and others about her books and food and wellness programs. She uses photos, videos, quotes, and every several posts she has a call to action using words such as "Flash Sale". She has a large following so I'm guessing this type of engaging with her fans she is getting sales. I do like the images she uses with a nice photo and just a bit of text. Maybe she read the .PDF's for class this week!

Bob Pacilio - Bob utilizes Facebook. He wrote a book about Moonlight Beach so his photos are of the views. He also takes photos of the bookstores on 101 in Encinitas who carry his book. He is not shy about using a call to action, urgency, and low supply of his books to make the last few sales. Very clever and unashamed about constantly making an offer to his followers. He even asks his tribe to place orders so he can buy another round of books from the publisher.

Jesse Gardner - HeySoul.com. I met Jesse at a neighborhood "marketplace" and learned of her "Soul boxes". She names them such as "Calm" and sources products to create an inspired calm gift box. Her Twitter is outdated but, her Facebook has more activity. She posts images with quotes and wise sayings and has the sale prices for her different boxes underneath. Actually, very smart. I don't feel sold just interested to find out what might be in the latest themed box.

When I am on Facebook, a lot of ads will pop up on the side of the page. Images with only the name of the company at the bottom are intriguing to me. I remember I saw a pair of pumps at Nordstrom's that I liked. Every time since when I would go on FaceBook an ad for those shoes popped up. Kind of creepy. Must admit I eventually bought the shoes. I think major companies do fairly subtle ads like that whereas my speaker/podcast/course creator friends are much pushier. Also, there are a lot of Realtors who blanket FaceBook with a picture of themselves and their listings. That is annoying. I'm a Realtor but, I'm not looking to buy a house. Maybe, they could push it out through the Audience Insights.

With the various advertising available I am probably more so exposed to it through radio, then TV. Online ads are easy to skip over and there is so much reading to be done. If an ad is attractive and not in my face like a simple graphic with a nice looking product and a "suggestion" to buy, I'll pay attention.CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-42583277151728777602019-04-29T12:51:00.001-07:002019-04-29T13:07:41.310-07:00Week 12 - Post B: Project ResearchI chose BingeNetworks.TV which is a distribution platform for creators to submit their podcast and video content. The site boasts links to over 50 venues such as Roku, Apple TV, Sony, etc... It works best for videos though plenty of podcasts are on the site as well. Even though it is a distribution site and they need content to become more noticeable and attract viewers, the creator of the content still need to market their brand. They also offer monetization of the content. I'm on Reinvention Radio and Beyond 8 Figures as a co-host.

In the early days of MeetUp Groups my mom entrepreneur business was a founding member for MeetUp. Was very popular and I see many MeetUp Groups are still around town in a variety of topics. In my newer venture MeetUp would be a great way to connect with our tribe as face-to-face is about the best organic approach that can grow a business through engagement.
https://www.meetup.com/cities/us/ca/encinitas/writing/CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-70947317367018212462019-04-24T10:55:00.001-07:002019-04-24T10:55:49.982-07:00Week 12 - Post 1 - Integrating Online Marketing ToolsSince I have three separate businesses, I utilize a variety of tools that best suits them. I have been the reluctant social media participant but, these assignments have helped me gauge which social media options I feel most comfortable using. A friend of mine teaches a streaming academy and always advises that one figure out "where they want to play and with whom". His version of which social media sites resonate with you and is that where your tribe can be found.

For real estate sales, I use my website and Facebook, though not enough. I use my Mailchimp list to promote real estate and my vacation rental properties. I utilize LinkedIn for my profile of what I do and my background but I don't engage with anyone or write articles. I have a presence on Twitter as well and I'm finding that I like it. I am not originating many posts, just replying or retweeting posts.

With that said, I'm going to take another look at my profile on LinkedIn and choose what I want to be known for. Difficult wearing three hats and standing out. I find people get to know me in one category and then find I have two more that are interesting so there is a crossover. The crossover happens when I'm working with buyers or seller's of property and they google me and see that I have vacation rental properties and vice versa. I have sold homes to my guests which is great! They also see that I've been in media and am an author. So I just realized my website, though fairly static, and my MailChimp database and newsletter are my greatest tools and have kept me going. But, I am still going to integrate a more consistent use of Twitter and LinkedIn moving forward.CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-90622635262304027182019-04-14T21:08:00.000-07:002019-04-14T21:08:46.498-07:00Week 11 - Post B - Classmate's Blogs I Commented Onhttps://csit155-sp19-adrianam.blogspot.com/
The majority of my list is from my vacation rental inquiries and guests. When I send a newsletter I receive approximately a 50% open rate and I attribute that to the fact they have all either spoken with me or experienced my rental. Also, I sell vacations. I put in the newsletters a bit about the local real estate market, a podcast of mine, and something that is happening in Encinitas that might be interesting to them. So far, with each newsletter, I get a booking and someone responds just to say hi, which I consider a success.

I am on a variety of newsletter lists and I most often see a story that leads to a sale. Once, the majority of their content has been dispensed it seems to be regurgitated with another call to action.
I find that I like to scrub my emails to delete the ones that just want to focus on shallow content and expensive calls to action.

There are newsletters I receive that do offer tips and solid information and if they have a huge list they may slip in advertising that makes their newsletter cumbersome.

With Go With Your Gut as my main topic I should have the following:
Podcasts
Since that is what I do most often, it makes sense to have informative blog posts with audio, a graphic, and text.
Relevance
Keeping my blog fresh and up-to-date.
Examples/Stories
I believe people love stories, I love to read stories. Teaching my decision-making system is aided by hearing examples of what I mean and that we're all more similar than we are different and we can learn from one another to make the best decisions for ourselves.

Podcast and YouTube Videos
For Catholicism is Cool, I have a new game plan. I'm a Lector at my Parish and for years people have told me to do something online. I'm creating a video series Monday through Saturday with the Daily Mass readings. I'm using YouTube as the first platform and then repurposing to my FaceBook group and my website and since FaceBook owns Instagram I'll link them. To find another group of listeners, I'm stripping the audio and posting it on the Anchor.fm app that was recently purchased by Spotify. I have about 400 listens to content on their now and they offer an advertising model.

I know it takes time to develop an audience and with the four platforms I'm using it will be interesting to see which one gains the most traction.

I've commented on the following classmate blogs:

Realize Your Fit

Francesca Haman

I'm a relatively private person even though I put myself in the public arena with my radio show and podcasts. So I've struggled with how much to share and where is that invisible line of being vulnerable but, not oversharing.

I've read a lot of blogs and watched YouTube videos and realized it doesn't take a lot of personal information to have your tribe feel connected to you. Sometimes, they don't want to know too much.

Today, I saw a snippet of the tribute to Kathi Lee Gifford on the Today Show as they saluted her retirement and, she really put herself out there and was vulnerable throughout her whole career. I admire that. Not, sure I would want to be that transparent.

As a blogger, there is a fine balance to adding a personal note or information to connect with your audience. Perhaps if the story has a take away such as, letting them into a bit of your family life through an incident that you are trying to help them avoid or that you may not have posted for a while because you were taking care of a family member or maybe you went through a bit of a financial struggle and you made it through and have pointers for them.

Sharing something vulnerable includes emotion. When emotion is involved in a story I write it and step away and reread it later before I post it to see if I feel comfortable with offering so much of my personal life. Some times I scrap it completely but, most often I just need to edit it to convey the message without the 'mess'.

CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-76892417120030331272019-04-01T17:55:00.002-07:002019-04-04T18:57:12.350-07:00Week 9 - Post B - Advanced Search & ListsTwitter is becoming one of my more favorite social media websites to utilize. Of course, with social media I tend to lean toward being intimidated but, this time I enjoyed the advanced search engine feature and I used it to find a few accounts for this assignment. Still much to learn and work with.

Since I am a podcaster and Catholic I searched for a combination of people who popped up. I also used 'speaker' as a search word.

When I used 'Catholic', many people showed up then I added podcaster and speaker and that fleshed out my search.

I also love the 'list' function. I created a list way back and had to reteach myself how to do it again. That is a great tool! I'm playing the list feature as I might add in real estate but, thinking that might be too generic so I might still focus on podcasters along with real estate.CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-39026077464221989752019-04-01T17:54:00.001-07:002019-04-04T18:57:21.985-07:00Week 9 - Post A - 4 Twitter ReviewsI used the advanced search tool and found a few people I thought to learn from what they are doing, what I could learn from them and incorporate into my posts.

The first one I chose was @SheilaReports. She is a journalist and her site is congruous with the look and feel of a journalist. It has many posts which are of a 'newsy' look and feel and so it is not that warm. The banner in the background is more academic and she is not looking at the camera and she's wearing a more conservative suit. Tastefully done for the purpose of her site and information. There are a lot of posts that seem to come from other sources satisfying visitors for the news. There are frequent posts that probably encourage visitors to stop by often. I would like to add frequency to my posts ideally and retweet other tweets as well as my original content.

Another Twitter account I chose was @JakeMooreMedia. Jake is depicted as a young, faithful guy and his cover photo is a simple, clean photo of himself; personable and kind. Jake employs lots of retweets sprinkled with some of his opinions. His is a welcoming and likable profile and his beliefs seem earnest.

The next one I chose was @CatholicMomCom. This is a pretty comprehensive twitter account. I would like to be as robust as they are with posts and retweets. This comes across as possibly having many people contributing to the content and tweets.

I always believe in being transparent with a personal photo because it helps the site visitor develop trust about who is running the business. I have seen on some websites for coaches photos of them doing something they enjoy which is helpful to get to know a little bit more about the coach. For instance, one coach I like, Dave Kehnast, shows photos of him at the beach with his surfboard.

DaveKehnast.com uses a Facebook page for his Kehnast Coaching. He has a lot of photos of himself surfing and the videos that he makes for a topic on coaching. I really like how he uses video to support his reach out for new clients. He is exactly the same in person as he is in his photos and videos and that is refreshing as well as deepens trust between him and his clients and potential clients. He has 870 followers and about 880 likes. He last posted on March 26, 2019. Interestingly he has the same number of likes to followers. Clients have posted testimonials, which is a great thing to use on the site as well as a pop-up for basic questions a visitor might ask. He uses #KehnastCoaching a lot. I would like to be more brave about posting videos of my work on my social media sites again.

Steve Olsher on Facebook. I co-host with Steve on Thursdays for Reinvention Radio and Beyond 8 Figures. Also, with his New Media Summit for podcasters. We actually are in a radio studio then repurpose the audio as a podcast. Steve has many sites but, I chose this one because it seems pretty active. He last posted March 22, 2019 and we sometimes Livestream from the studio which, if you take a look you'll see us in-studio waiting to record and I'm talking on the phone! He has 1835 followers and he posts a lot of our episodes on this site to promote our guests and the shows. He gets a good number of views, in the hundreds, and not as many comments but, there is activity. I definitely need to post more often and consistently to promote my shows.

Richard Otey on Twitter, Rich ECommerce. Richard is very knowledgable about streaming live and e-commerce. He has posted 3972 tweets, has 1691 people he follows, 2496 followers, 4457 likes over 3 lists. He tweets multiple times a week and he retweets as much if not more than that. Richard is the other host on Reinvention Radio and Beyond 8 Figures and out of the 3 of us he understands social media engagement better than any of us. He's a happiness coach and consultant to many business owners.

Devi Adea on Instagram. Devi is a fellow coach and podcaster. She also teaches people how to start their own podcast as I do. She has 402 posts, 690 followers and 211 she follows. Devi posts podcasts using a thumbnail from the show and also lets us in on her personal life such as her wedding anniversary. She doesn't really use hashtags. She gets on average about 50 likes and many comments. I see a lot of our mutual podcasters responding to her posts as we're all friends.
A while back my daughter set an account up for me for my Go With Your Gut book and program. She titled it making-gut-decisions-with-Mary. I'm trying to figure out how to change that title to be Go With Your Gut.

CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-63221706380274922322019-03-18T17:36:00.001-07:002019-04-04T18:58:03.598-07:00Week 7 - Post A - FacebookI chose seven businesses on Facebook to like that pertain to areas of interest in my Go With your Gut coaching business.

Here are the pages and descriptions below:
1. Jane Dueber - Global Experts Accelerator
2. Positive People Making Positive Decisions - Quotes
3. Dr. Brad, MD
4. NeurOptimal NeuroFeedback Systems
5. Library of Professional Coaching
6. Accomplishment Coaching
7. Catholic Speaker's Organization

I began with Jane Dueber's page which is attached to her business, Global Experts Accelerator, of which I am a client. Jane helps those who have content to create an e-Course, and if they so choose they can also create a certification program and licensing program so others can purchase the license and teach others my course. It's pretty in-depth.

Next, I chose the Positive People Making Positive Decisions Facebook page because my Go With Your Gut program is all about making decisions you can trust and in my e-Course I will utilize quotes to get a point across and to inspire the student.

I chose Dr. Brad because I saw a video he did about making decisions and he pulled in God as part of the process and I liked that because it fits with my Catholic faith and I can possibly learn from him and perhaps reach out to him as well.

The NeurOptimal Facebook page was chosen because I work with them and we could be good referral partners for one another and I also love the neurosciences.

The next few Facebook pages I chose are professional coaching groups which are a great place for me to get leads for my certification and licensing of Go With Your Gut. The Library of Professional Coaching has a database and a great place to stay connected to the industry. I know several accomplishment coaches and they are cool. I really like their coaching style and have been coached by one of them. Deep stuff. I can always learn from them.

And, lastly, I chose the Catholic Speakers Organization as that is part of my business model to do more presenting to the Catholic faith community and create a program on prayer. I have podcasts created already so becoming familiar with this group will be good.

The post reach is the number of unique people who saw your content on Facebook, meaning new people. The reach affects every other metric you can track such as; likes, comments, clicks and of course, negative feedback. It's the number of people who saw a specific post in their news feed.

Engagement on Facebook is when people take action on your content. Facebook will report as engagement the number of clicks, likes, shares, and comments.

This distinction is important because it will tell you if your posts are compelling enough to make someone take action. If they take action you have a better chance of them being interested in your business offering.

Once, you understand these two tools; post reach and post engagement, you can then focus on the insights tool to further engage your potential customer. Insights will address if which content that works best and if it is driving people to engage; take action.

Insights will help you see which content is working and which is not. It can also help your sharing strategy. Insights will help you see if your posts and the reach are taking your customers to engage with you. Insights can be fun to keep track of if you like stats and testing content, and if you are paying attention then you and adjust your content strategy right away to see improvement.CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-39954368098010150942019-02-28T18:46:00.001-08:002019-04-04T18:58:35.194-07:00Week 5, Post B: Target Market for Go With Your GutMy target market for my decision-making process; Go With Your Gut; How to Make Decisions You Can Trust is typically women, aged 35 - 55. They are looking for guidance in decisions they face in the areas of; relationships, career changes, financial decisions, and finding their purpose and passion.

Research has shown women are the ones who are most likely to seek out a self-help book and program. Once, they are influenced and successful using it they will refer others to give it a try.

My clients are typically in their mid-40's who are successful in work or financially independent to explore choices and make a change in their work. Many come to me describing an attitude of, "Is this all there is, how can I find my passion and purpose?"

Also, clients want to know how they are making their decisions because they have created a pattern of poor choices especially in the areas of money and investments, and not knowing how to change a relationship dynamic.

Go With Your Gut helps them hear their Signature Vocabulary and Signature Response plus what our ego, emotions and gut sound like so we are more able to trust the voice of our gut.CSIT155-SP19-MaryGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14726875941546226005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6543356180355298012.post-40052519713822262172019-02-28T18:34:00.000-08:002019-04-04T18:58:52.912-07:00Week 5 - Post A: Subway vs. Hungry Bear DeliI chose Subway and Hungry Bear Deli for this assignment.

Subway:
Subway is a franchise that operates worldwide. They began as a single location and franchised in 1974, there are now 40,000 locations. Hence, they have a corporate feel on their website. They have systems and protocols in place whereas a new, single shop are learning as they go what works.

They are active in taking responsibility in the community and for sustainability. They also created a "SubCulture" as a call-to-action encouraging a customer to; "live, eat, move, and do good" along with them.

They have an app, gift cards and make a point to honor our veterans.

Hungry Bear Deli:
This deli appears to have only one location in Vista. They have a very clean site with a clever logo and good photos of their product offering.

I imagine them to be younger owners as their first call to action is to "Be Social" listing Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, and Google. I'm surprised they don't utilize Instagram with their nice photos.

They have quite an extensive product line, for instance, subs, nonsubs, steak subs, chicken subs, classic subs, favorites, grilled burger subs, omelet subs, salads, specialty subs, extras, freshly baked bread, and cheeses.

The obvious differences are the unique menu from HungryBearDeli with a lot of creativity and Subway's standard sandwich menu with a straight forward preparation. Chips, cookies, and soda are available.

HungryBearDeli feels very homegrown and there is an underlying passion for the business. They stand behind no microwaving, the ingredients are always fresh and never frozen.

The websites for both have a different feel and tone. Subway is systematic, a corporate layout, much of the information seems to be what "should be" on the website vs HungryBearDeli with much less information and really focused on the menu.

There is probably a crossover clientele for both only because the availability of HungryBear is not there so customers will default to Subway for convenience.

<span style="font-family: "latoweb" , "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;">Sara Wiseman

Sara is a spiritual and intuition teacher and has a pretty strong following. Her top navigation bar is concise and telling as to what she offers. She has a very streamlined website and targets her niche well in the spiritual community.

She has such a clean, yet voluminous site, covering her ebooks, courses, readings and more. Very comprehensive. Her design is soft, welcoming with text and appropriate graphics that match her content and message.

I visit her site to see how she formats her content and what forms she offers it. I think she is a good study guide for my work as she already created the roadmap successfully so for me it is just overlaying my content onto her methodology.

The only thing I don't see addressed is her way of interacting with her students and community. I would think she would have testimonials from her current and past clients. We are a review-based society so it is a bit surprising I couldn't see testimonials on such a prolific site.

Super Clean BBQ

I have hired Super Clean BBQ for several years. My barbeque can look brand new after a year of use.

I like how straight forward the website is about the services. The services described are what I experience so I can consider that message to be accurate and effective.

The design is pretty straightforward covering the before and after pictures of their work, which makes sense since patrons are looking for the results of hiring them to clean their barbeque.

I rehire Superclean every year because my barbeque looks fantastic after ten years of use.

I have two thoughts for better customer experience; one, where are the testimonials? I would be happy to provide one. Secondly, I am not a fan of a contact form that has me put in my information to be contacted. I know he has his phone number but, I like a more personal touch to reach the proprietor.
